Clinton Speaks in Baltimore

On Monday evening, Hillary Clinton spoke in Baltimore, Maryland at a fundraising event for Representative Elijah Cummings’ Youth Program in Israel. During her speech, Clinton spoke about the importance of the United States working with the global community to combat terrorism at home and abroad. She called for unity in the face of the recent terrorist attacks in London. Without saying his name, Clinton criticized President Donald Trump for his recent actions in the international community saying, “It’s a time for steady, determined leadership, like we are seeing from local authorities in London, including the mayor of London. This is not a time to lash out, to incite fear or to use tragedy and terror for political gain. Normally this would go without saying, but we are not living in normal times.” Watch a video of Clinton’s speech below.

Hillary’s Plan: Foreign Policy

Hillary Clinton’s Strong, Steady Approach to Global Challenges vs. Trump’s Dangerously Unserious Approach

The fifth topic on deck for this evening’s debate will address global challenges. Hillary Clinton’s steady leadership has made America stronger and safer on the world stage. As First Lady, Senator, and Secretary of State, she has worked tirelessly to keep Americans safe and stay true to our values.  Conversely, Donald Trump’s dangerous national security proposals, lack of understanding of geopolitical realities, and reckless foreign policy rhetoric have been apparent throughout the campaign.

Hillary Clinton has laid out a comprehensive plan to defeat ISIS and keep Americans safe at home.  She understands that it’s not enough just to take out specific groups or leaders – we must have a comprehensive strategy to win the long game against the global terrorist network and its ideology. Former military leaders and top national security officials agree: Hillary is the right choice.

As president, Hillary will:

  • Protect our homeland, including by surging our intelligence to ensure law enforcement has the information they need to detect and disrupt plots.
  • Work with Silicon Valley to shut down terrorist propaganda and disrupt their recruitment efforts online.
  • Keep guns out of the hands of suspected terrorists.
  • Work with our allies to dismantle the global network that supplies money, arms, propaganda and fighters to the terrorists.
  • Choke off the networks that facilitate their growth and expansion.
  • Focus on eliminating the leader of ISIS, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.
  • Take out ISIS’s strongholds in the Middle East by intensifying the coalition air campaign, supporting our partners on the ground, and pursuing diplomacy to end Syria’s civil war and close Iraq’s sectarian divide, because those conflicts are keeping ISIS alive.
  • Stand with our allies, rather than abandoning them.

Despite Trump’s claims that he has a “secret” plan to defeat ISIS, he has no real plan at all. And his rhetoric is dangerously playing into terrorists’ hands.

As president, Trump will:

Engage in torture in the fight against ISIS and kill the families of terrorists.

New HFA Video: This Is Alex Jones

Today, Hillary for America is releasing a new video spotlighting Donald Trump’s disturbing admiration for fringe InfoWars radio host Alex Jones, a conspiracy enthusiast best know for pushing outlandish and gross theories around national tragedies including that the Sandy Hook shooting, September 11th terror attacks and the Oklahoma City bombing were either inside jobs or simply made up. Over the course of the campaign, Trump has publicly praised and drawn from Jones’ dangerously wacky ideas. In fact, just yesterday he falsely suggested that Hillary Clinton was “pumped up” on drugs, a claim made on Jones radio show just this month.

As Jones said: “And I’ll tell you, it is surreal to talk about issues here on air and then word for word hear Trump say it two days later. It is amazing.”

We agree.

Alex Jones, whose show Trump has appeared on, and who Trump has praised publicly, is a prominent conspiracy theorist.

Jones pushed several conspiracy theories around national tragedies: “Jones’s amazing reputation arises mainly from his high-volume insistence that national tragedies such as the September 11th terror attacks, the Oklahoma City bombing, the Sandy Hook elementary-school shooting, and the Boston Marathon bombing were all inside jobs, ‘false flag’ ops secretly perpetrated by the government to increase its tyrannical power (and, in some cases, seize guns). Jones believes that no one was actually hurt at Sandy Hook—those were actors—and that the Apollo 11 moon-landing footage was faked.” [New Yorker, 6/23/16]

Jones on the Gabby Giffords shooting: “My gut tells me this was a staged mind-control operation. The government employs geometric psychological-warfare experts that know exactly how to indirectly manipulate unstable people through the media.” [Rolling Stone, 3/2/11]

Jones on the Orlando nightclub shooting: “In a YouTube video posted Sunday evening, the founder called Mateen’s shooting rampage ‘a false-flag terror attack.’” [Daily Beast, 6/12/16]

Apart from conspiracy theories, Jones has a history of offensive comments.

“Real women don’t need #feminism! It destroys society! It promotes division & hate against men! #tcot” [@RealAlexJones, Twitter, 3/7/15]

“Sheriff Clarke: Black Lives Matter Is A ‘Vulgar, Vile, Vicious, Slimy Movement’ …” [@RealAlexJones, Twitter, 9/1/15]

“Unedited Video Shows Bundy Making Pro-Black, Pro-Mexican Comments – … #BundyRanch” [@RealAlexJones, 4/25/14]

The list of disturbing and bizarre headlines on Jones’ site, Infowars, is unending. Visit for a view into the mind of a man Trump has said he “greatly admires.”

Donald Trump shares a mutual admiration with conspiracy theorist and radio show host, Alex Jones.

2015: Donald Trump to Alex Jones: “I just wanted to finish by saying that your reputation is amazing. I will not let you down. You’ll be very, very impressed, I hope, and I think we’ll be speaking a lot, but you’ll be looking at me in a year, or two years—give me a little bit of time to run things—but a year into office, you’ll be saying, ‘Wow, I remember that interview, he said he was gonna do it, and he did a great job.” [Vanity Fair, 12/2/15]

2015: “Alex Jones Is A Big Fan Of Donald Trump, And The Feeling’s Mutual.” “Republican front-runner Donald Trump appeared on conspiracy theorist Alex Jones’ show on Wednesday in a lengthy display of mutual appreciation. Appearing on a blurry video connection, Trump talked to Jones about Trump’s false claims about Muslims in New Jersey cheering 9/11, Hillary Clinton, and Trump’s book, among other topics. Jones told Trump he had been ‘vindicated’ in his claims. I know it happened and I held my line and people wanted me to apologize and I can’t do that,’ Trump told Jones. ‘People like you and I, we can’t do that so easily.’” [BuzzFeed, 12/2/15]

2016: “Alex Jones Celebrates Trump’s Takeover Of The GOP.” Jones took in Trump’s Republican Convention and “spent Monday mobbed by reporters, sharing a podium with Trump adviser Roger Stone and welcoming several far-right candidates onstage as part of an ‘America First Project’ unity effort.” [Washington Post, 7/18/16]

2016: Trump’s Senior Policy Advisor Stephen Miller Talked To Infowars And Praised Alex Jones For Being On Top Of The Issues Close To The Trump Campaign. “In a February 8 interview with, Trump senior policy adviser Stephen Miller praised Jones and Infowars for having ‘been on top of … the Trans-Pacific Partnership, and on the immigration issue.’ Miller then repeatedly pitched Trump to Jones’ audience, telling them that ‘if you want to stop the Trans-Pacific Partnership, if you want to close the border, if you want to protect American jobs and wages, then you have to support Donald J. Trump.’” [Media Matters, 2/10/16; Infowars, 2/8/16]

Hillary Clinton Statement on Alleged Plot Against Somali Community

Following news that the FBI had charged three Kansas men for plotting to use a weapon of mass destruction against an apartment complex in Garden City, Kansas, that is home to many Somali immigrants, Hillary Clinton issues the following statement:

“I applaud law enforcement for detecting and disrupting a highly disturbing terror plot in Kansas, in which men were allegedly planning an elaborate attack directed at Muslim Americans, including directing four car bombs at an apartment complex housing more than 100 men, women, and children. This plot is an affront to all Americans. We all must stand firm in fighting terror and rejecting hateful and divisive rhetoric–and we must do it together. According to the FBI, their eight-month investigation uncovered ‘a hidden culture of hatred and violence.’ We should all be grateful to law enforcement for preventing this plot from being carried out, and as President, I will work with law enforcement at all levels and with our communities to make sure we have the tools we need to prevent both domestic and international terrorist threats.”

During her remarks on national security, Clinton criticized Republican Donald Trump’s response to the shooting in Orlando saying, “After all the Twitter rants and conspiracy theories we’ve been hearing recently, it’s time for substantive discussions about how we protect our country, how we respond to terrorist attacks like the one that tragically occurred in Orlando.” Clinton stressed that it is important for everyone to work together to stop lone wolves and to ensure our military receives the best care during and after serving. Following yesterday’s terror inspired shooting at an Orlando, Florida night club, Hillary Clinton delivered a counter-terrorism speech today in Cleveland, Ohio. Clinton was previously scheduled to appear in Cleveland today, but she changed the subject of her speech following yesterday’s devastating shooting. During her speech, Clinton called for a bipartisan response to not only fight ISIS, but to restore an assault rifle ban that was in effect during the 1990s. She said, “It’s essential that we stop terrorists from getting the tools they need to carry out the attacks, and that is especially true when it comes to assault weapons like those used in Orlando and San Bernardino.”

Clinton reached out to the LGBT community saying, “I want to say this to all the LGBT people grieving today in Florida and across our country, you have millions of allies who will always have your back. I am one of them.” She also reached out to the country’s Muslim allies saying that blaming all of Islam is not the answer. While she did not say his name, she referred to Republican Donald Trump’s proposal to ban all Muslims from entering the country. Clinton said, “Inflammatory, anti-Muslim rhetoric—and threatening to ban the families and friends of Muslim Americas as well as millions of Muslim business people and tourists from entering our country—hurts the vast majority of Muslims who love freedom and hate terror.” A full video from Clinton’s speech is below and a transcript can be read HERE.

Earlier in the day, Clinton called in to NBC’s The Today Show and spoke with Savannah Guthrie. Clinton discussed the importance of not blaming Muslims for the shooting, but the person who carried it out and the system that enabled him to purchase an assault rifle. She also criticized Trump for his rhetoric and said that it is ignoring the key issue of going after ISIS and preventing them from using social media to recruit. Audio from Clinton’s interview is below.

Meanwhile in New York City, a fundraiser was held in partnership with Hillary for America. The event featured a conversation with Cheif Finanical Officer Gary Gensler and was hosted by Mike Bodson, Donna Milrod, Larry Thompson, and Mark Wetjen. Clinton was scheduled to attend a fundraiser in Cincinnati, but the event was postponed.

Hillary Clinton Statement on Orlando Terrorist Attack

A shooting overnight at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida is being investigated as an act of terrorism. The shooting is one of the worst in US history as 50 were killed and 53 are left injured. Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton released a statement offering her prayers for the victims and their families. Clinton also condemned gun violence, terrorism, and violence against the LGBT community. A copy of Clinton’s statement is below:

“I join Americans in praying for the victims of the attack in Orlando, their families and the first responders who did everything they could to save lives.

This was an act of terror.  Law enforcement and intelligence agencies are hard at work, and we will learn more in the hours and days ahead.  For now, we can say for certain that we need to redouble our efforts to defend our country from threats at home and abroad.  That means defeating international terror groups, working with allies and partners to go after them wherever they are, countering their attempts to recruit people here and everywhere, and hardening our defenses at home. It also means refusing to be intimidated and staying true to our values.

This was also an act of hate.  The gunman attacked an LGBT nightclub during Pride Month.  To the LGBT community: please know that you have millions of allies across our country.  I am one of them.  We will keep fighting for your right to live freely, openly and without fear.  Hate has absolutely no place in America.

Finally, we need to keep guns like the ones used last night out of the hands of terrorists or other violent criminals.  This is the deadliest mass shooting in the history of the United States and it reminds us once more that weapons of war have no place on our streets.

This is a time to stand together and resolve to do everything we can to defend our communities and country.”

Bill, Chelsea Campaign for Hillary in New Jersey

On Friday, Bill Clinton campaigned on behalf of Hillary in New Jersey. Speaking to a crowd of supporters at Passaic County Community College in Paterson, Bill was confronted by a small group of protestors, but he turned his focus to Hillary’s platform and how her plans focus on “bridge-building, not wall building.” He criticized presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump for his rhetoric, and argued that it was better for everyone to work together to achieve our shared goals. He said, “We need the good freedom-loving, terror-hating Muslim-Americans to help us to lead the fight. We gotta live together and be citizens, together. We gotta protect everybody’s rights: Religious rights, women’s rights, voting rights and labor rights. We gotta prove to that we can do this together.”

Bill then traveled to Ewing Township where he spoke at the College of New Jersey. He, again, spoke about Trump and his plans to shut the borders of the United States to outsiders. Bill argued that does not work because of modern technology and social media. He said that we have to have a multi-front strategy that includes the internet. He said, “San Bernadino, our latest terrorist incident, was because of people converted over the Internet. America desperately needs its Muslims who love freedom and hate terror and want to be a part of this country.” Videos from today’s events will be posted when/if available.

Chelsea Clinton also attended two events in New Jersey. She took part in the opening of Hillary for America office in Metuchen and Bloomfield. At each event, she addressed local supporters and volunteers who came out for the event. Chelsea spoke about the importance of the 2016 election and why Hillary is best qualified for the White House. She thanked everyone for their support and asked for their vote on June 7.

Hillary, meanwhile, was in California where she spoke to CBS San Francisco. During the exclusive interview, she spoke about her platform and plans should she become president. She was asked about Trump a number of times, and she expressed her concern saying, “I’ve never seen a candidate like Donald Trump; that’s fair. And I’ve never seen so much concern – even in his own party – by Republicans about their nominee.” She also spoke about the importance of immigration reform, the need to upgrade the country’s infrastructure, and her thoughts on legalized marijuana. A full video of the interview can be viewed HERE.

Two California fundraisers were held on behalf of Hillary for America. The first was in San Francisco and focused on LGBT issues. The conversation featured Robby Mook, Campaign Manager; Teddy Goff, Chief Digital and Technology Strategist; and David Plouffe, Campaign Manager, Obama 2008. The second event was held in Santa Monica and was hosted by Roberta Conroy, Ashley Kennedy and Rosezetta Cummings, Claire Lucas and Judy Dlugacz, Andrea Meyerson, and Valerie Ploumpis. The event featured a conversation with Senator Tammy Baldwin, Lily Tomlin, Meredith Baxter, Suzanne Westenhoefer, Stephanie Miller, and Billie Jean King.
